Temperament: Peaceful, they are perfect for peaceful community aquariums. However, it is crucial to note that as they grow, they become more territorial and aggressive, particularly the males.
Diet & Nutrition: In the aquarium they should have a varied diet of frozen (bloodworms, Mysis shrimp) and prepared foods (algae wafers and quality flake), but blanched vegetables (courgette and sweet potato) should always be available to graze on.
Gender: Venting is the best way to sex this fish, although mature males usually develop thick odontodes on the cheeks and pectoral fins.
